1 lb ground pork breakfast sausage
6 slices of crusty French bread
8 oz grated Swiss cheese
1 cup grated asiago cheese
7 large eggs, divided
2 cups heavy cream, divided
2 cups milk
1 Tbsp chopped fresh sage leaves
1 tsp seasoned salt
1 tsp dry mustard
½ tsp white pepper
Chopped fresh chives for garnish
Salt and white pepper
Preparation: Serves 8
Cook sausage in a large skillet over medium-high heat, stirring until crumbled and no longer pink; drain well.
Lightly grease a 13 x 9 inch baking dish. Layer evenly with bread slices, sausage, Swiss cheese and asiago cheese. Whisk together 5 eggs, 1 cup cream and next 5 ingredients (through pepper); pour evenly over cheeses. Cover and chill 8 hours.
Preheat oven 350°F.
Whisk together remaining 2 eggs and 1 cup cream; pour evenly over chilled mixture. Bake for 50 minutes or until set. Garnish with fresh chives. Sprinkle with additional salt and white pepper.
